The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of career decision-making self-efficacy in the relationship between nursing professionalism and career preparation behavior based on Savickas & Porfeli(2012)’s ‘The Career Construction Model of Adaptation’ and Lent, Brown, & Hackett(1994)’s ‘Social Cognitive Career Theory. For this purpose, technical statistics, difference analysis, and regression analysis were conducted based on the data of 105 nursing college students who have completed ’Career Education Program for a preliminary nurses’ by Korean Nurses Association. The research results are as follows. First, the nursing profession, the career decision magnetic efficacy and the career preparation action of nursing college students were identified at a high level around four points. Second, the gender, age, type of school, desired medical institution., and career experiences of nursing college students did not significantly affect the difference of nursing professionalism. Second, there were no differences in career-related variables(career preparation behavior and career decision-making self-efficacy) according to gender, age, type of school, and desired medical institution. However, for those who completed career-related regular subjects, career preparation behavior and career decision-making self-efficacy increased significantly. In addition, the career preparation behaviors of the students who experienced career counseling increased significantly. Third, as a result of examining general characteristics of nursing college students, the 24 to 29 years old was high. Career readiness behavior in this group was not statistically significant but was found to be lower than 18-23 years. Fourth, there was a mediating effect of career decision-making self-efficacy between nursing professionalism and career readiness behavior.
