본 연구의 목적은 마틴 루터의 종교개혁 사상이 독일과 현대의 공교육에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지 탐색하고자 하는 것이다. 1년 전, 2017년은 종교개혁 500주년을 기념하는 해였다. 어느 해보다 마틴 루터를 위시한 종교개혁가들의 업적과 그 위대함을 상기하는 데 의미가 있다 하겠다. 이미 아는바 대로, 루터는 신학자요 목사로, 그리고 ‘종교’개혁가로 우리에게 알려져 있다. 그러나 루터는 그 누구보다 교육에 남다른 관심을 가졌던 인물이었다. 물론 그가 교육 개혁을 위해 직접적이고 구체적인 연구 자료를 남기지는 않았지만, 그가 남긴 저작물 중에서 그의 교육관에 대한 단서를 발견할 수 있다. 이를 위하여 루터가 경험했던 교육의 경험과 배경을 연구하였으며, 더 나아가 루터 신학에서의 교육 사상과 루터의 교육관의 특징을 연구하였다. 마지막으로 루터의 종교개혁이 독일과 현대 공교육에 미친 영향과 공헌, 그리고 교육사적으로 어떠한 의의가 있는지를 탐색하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 종교개혁가 루터로 인하여 독일을 비롯한 유럽 전역에서는 종교를 비롯하여, 정치, 경제, 문화, 그리고 교육에까지 지대한 공헌점이 있다는 사실을 주지하면서, 특별히 공교육의 영역에 어떠한 긍정적 영향을 미쳤는지에 대하여 독일 공교육의 역사를 되짚어보며 탐구하였다. 이것을 토대로 한국 공교육과 기독교교육의 현주소와 비교하며 앞으로 한국의 공교육과 기독교교육이 어떤 방향을 설정하여 나아가야 하는지에 대한 가능성을 살펴보았다.
The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of Martin Luther's thought of Reformation on Modern Public education. 2017 is a year to celebrate the 500 anniversary of the Reformation. It is meaningful to remind the accomplishments and greatness of the religious reformers such as Martin Luther in any year. As we know, Luther is known to us as a theologian and pastor, and as a ‘religion’ reformer. However, Luther was a person who had an extraordinary interest in education than anyone else. Of course, he did not leave any direct or specific research data for educational reform, but he can find clues to his educator among the works he has left. To this end, I have studied the experience and background of Luther's education, and further studied Luther' s educational thought and Luther's educational characteristics. Finally, he explored the significance of Luther's Reformation in educational history and studied his influence and contribution to Germany and modern education. This study, therefore, explored the positive effects of the Lutheran reformer on public education, especially in Germany, and throughout Europe, noting that it has great contributions to religion, politics, economy, culture and education. I retrospectively explored the history of public education. Based on this, we will compare the present situation of Korean public education and Korean church education, and examine the possibility of how Korean education should be set in the future.
