In the age of the artificial intelligence, although relatively slowly compared to other social fields, various artificial intelligence-based legal services are being developed in the judicial field. Although there are extreme claims that artificial intelligence should replace human judges, considering the limitations of artificial intelligence, such extreme claims are difficult to adopt. But artificial intelligence can be used as a useful aid tool in the judicial action of courts. If humans and technology collaborate to work together, they can contribute to a fairer and more efficient judicial justice by complementing each other. The electronic judicial system of Korean courts is already world-class, and it is expected that the court will continue to improve the judicial system in a way that substantially contributes to the rights of the dispute parties by utilizing the advantages of digital technology and artificial intelligence in the legal field. As one of the court's efforts to improve the judicial system, it is necessary to actively consider the introduction of online dispute resolution system in civil litigation. Based on the experience of foreign jurisdictions and the domestic legal environment, this paper proposes that the online dispute resolution procedure be introduced first in the mediation process of small claims, and then expanded to other civil procedures.
