The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between objectified body consciousness and physical self-esteem of Chinese female university students majoring in physical education. To accomplish the purpose of the research, female university students who are majoring in Physical Education at three different universities(N=427) in Henan province in China were recruited via an internet based method. Collected data were analyzed by reliability test, confirmatory factor analysis and multiple linear regression analysis via Win SAS Ver. 9.4. The results of the study are as follows. First, objectified body consciousness had a negative effect on appearance esteem. Second, objectified body consciousness had a negative effect on wight esteem. Third, objectified body consciousness had a negative effect on physical function esteem. Implications of this study were discussed and a direction for future study was suggested as follows. First, the future research should include participants with various backgrounds. Second, longitudinal research is recommended to further examine the influential factors on body esteem. Lastly, more research should be conducted to with other influential factors to understand Chinese female students.
