This study was purposed to review systematic reviews of physical activity intervention for older adults, and to provide a summary of up-to-date evidence-based information for physical activity promotion researchers and policy makers. This review focused on the determinants of physical activity, cognitive health, and robot technology as an alternative to traditional physical activity intervention in older adults. Because physical activity takes place in the human ecosystem, it is necessary to study Korean-specific sociocultural and physical environment in relation to Korean older adults’ physical activity. There are diverse perspectives on healthy aging, but there is a need to further understand the impact of different types of physical activity in the elderly on aging processes and cognitive functioning. In recent years, interest in the development and application of robot technology has been increasing in order to improve the self-management of the elderly. Research and development of robotic technology-based physical activity program to maintain and improve physical and cognitive function in older adults is needed.
