To secure the competitiveness of continuous steelworks, it is necessary to optimize the amount of steam used during the production process. The by-product gas generated in a steel mill is used as a raw material for the boiler that produces steam in the process, and the amount of heat provided by the by-product gas fluctuates considerably depending on the process and raw materials. Consequently, the amount of steam produced fluctuates considerably. In this paper, we describe a method to correct the calorific value of the raw material input to the boiler for stable steam production through an equation and verify the effect of this correction equation on actual boiler operation.
