Purpose – This study explores the competitive relationship among 10convention centers in Korea and find out the strategic niche of the future-oriented MIICE industry using niche theory. Design, data, and methodology – The data were collected in 2019 by examining all the conventions, meetings, and exhibitions held at 10 convention centers, and the analysis of niche breadth, niche overlap was conducted by classifying them into the type of organizers, sizes, themes, and types. Result – The results showed that firstly CECO has the lowest niche breadth but ICC has the highest niche breadth when analyzing by the type organizers. Secondly HICO has the lowest niche breadth but CONVENSIA has the highest niche breadth when analyzing by the sizes. Thirdly EXCO has the lowest but HICO has the highest niche breadth when analyzing by the themes. Lastly COEX has the lowest but ICC has the highest niche breadth when analyzing by the types. Conclusions – The results offer some insights that convention centers should find their own unique niche market and develop a differentiated convention market in order to survive the competition.
