Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between age and postural alignment in elderly Koreans. Moreover, linear regression was performed to determine to what extent the postural alignment are explained by age. Methods 52healthy elderly individual (female: 32, male: 20) participated in this study. All participants were evaluated for postural alignments. The relationship and explanatory power between age and postural alignment were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and simple linear regression analysis. Results Age was strongly correlated with CVA(r=0.78), CTA(r=0.67) and CHA(r=0.72) in elderly female(p<0.05). Age was strongly correlated with SA (r=0.66) and STA (r=0.65) in elderly male(p<0.05). In the elderly female, Age accounted for 61% variance in CVA, 44% variance in CTA and 52% variance in CHA(p<0.05). In the elderly male, Age accounted for 44% variance in SA and 43% variance in STA(p<0.05). Conclusion Age is the major correlation of postural alignment of the neck of an elderly woman, and the major correlation of posture alignment of the shoulder of an elderly man.
