이 연구의 목적은 농촌관련 사회복지연구 경향을 분석하여 향후 연구의 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 지난 20년간 한국연구재단 등재학술지 목록에서 사회복지학 분야로 분류된 학술지 27개를 추출해서 제목에 농촌을 포함한 논문 73편을 게재연도, 연구자 수, 연구대상, 연구비지원, 연구방법, 자료수집방법, 자료분석방법, 분석대상자료, 분석자료의 범위, 농촌에 대한 조작적 정의를 변수로 분석한 후 쟁점을 도출하였다. 논의된 쟁점은 첫째, 농촌 연구 논문 수의 부족, 둘째, 연구대상의 편향성, 셋째, 농촌에 대한 정의 부재, 넷째, 연구방법의 편향성, 다섯째, 연구 데이터의 부족과 부적절성, 여섯째, 연구결과 해석의 혼란, 일곱째, 연구지원체계의 미비였다. 이들 쟁점을 바탕으로 사회복지학에서 농촌관련 연구가 더 많이 확대되어야 함을 주장하면서, 몇 가지 방안을 제안하였다.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the trends of social welfare research related to the rural societies and recommend some issues for future research. To do this, we, first, have studied 73 rural-related articles published in the social welfare journals in Korea for about last two decades. We, then, have selected seven issues, and discussed them. Those issues are as follows. 1) lack of number of the articles, 2) bias of the research subject, 3) absence of definition of rural areas applied in that paper, 4) bias of research methodologies, 5) lack and inadequacy of research data, 6) confusion of interpretation of research results, 7) insufficiency of research support system. Based on our findings, having suggested for more rural-related research in the academic fields of social welfare, we have made some recommendations as follows: including rural welfare section in the academic community in social welfare filed, conducting research about rural-centered community care and social farming, selecting various research subject and extending the area of research upto service delivery system and social security in rural section, setting the definition of rural in strict way, practicing more qualitative research method, gathering reliable data and sharing the data with public, including rural situation in social welfare curriculum, creating or enforcing formal support system for rural welfare research.
