In general, high-capacity power devices rated at several kW or more require high power density and efficiency. The bridgeless PFC circuit, commonly used in AC rectifiers, is known for its high efficiency but is limited in increasing power density. This study applies a GaN switch, which is a WBG element, as a high-speed rectifying switch in a totem pole PFC circuit and analyzes its impact on performance. To verify the improved efficiency, a 3 kW AC/DC power supply is constructed, and the experimental results are reported.
