Public education in English needs to be reorganized to focus on the emotional aspect of communication, for true communication is not just about understanding what the other person is trying to express, but also about understanding the emotional implications of an interaction and engaging with them in a specific context. In this process of the restoring emotional impact of human discourse, the meaning and importance of the affective influence of narrative can be reassessed. The significance of narrative in English education should not be underestimated, as it offers unique learning opportunities for students to engage in class activities, and also builds up the sense of one-heartedness by encouraging students to imagine and feel the experience of the other. In this regards, narrative is an effective means of transforming English education, especially where “functional” education, in the narrow sense of reading, listening, writing, and speaking, has prevailed.
